Airport digitalization : Seeing digital signage in transit from airports

Airport digitalization : Seeing digital signage in transit from airports    -Edward Lin 2018/10/05

Whenever we arrive at a new country, everything's new and unfamiliar. You don't have your usual unlimited internet 4G to use, and you desperately need to IG story about your arrival right away. That's when you realize the "SIM card here!!" displaying on the monitor above you. You happily swagged through the airport for your reserved SIM card, starting your journey.

I myself believe that airports are the earliest and most advanced place of using large digital display. From the simplest flight information displays, interactive marketing strategy showed in Tax free shops, to the digital shows on the video wall, all passengers should-know (or at least the country want them to) are first displayed before they really step inboard. So the followings are the digital signage applications you can see in a well-decorated airport, and I think it'll be a good reference for all transit industries.

Accurate Information Displays

Arrivals, departures and scheduling

It's the most important thing in an airport. All flights are informed so that customers won't miss their flights home. Families and friends know where to pick up their beloved ones. For the airport themselves, the staff can go through the information of all flights, keeping all departures and arrivals trackable.

Way finding

It's pretty common to lose your way through the big, foreign airport. You got so many things to do between your flights and you pretty much don't want to get lost. A digital map displayed aside the aisle is what helps leverage your time.Whether to cruise through stores, finding your way to the restroom for reapplying makeup, or just simply walk yourself out the airport

Shopping and Entertainments

Showing hospitality is the most important things to do when you have guests. Digital signage display using in the hospitality industries is no big news. Whether a fascinating commercial leading to product sale in the airport, or any interactive touchscreens that help engage in any customer service, it's undeniable that we love them. The more we feel entertained and at ease, the best we like the country right? There's also research that shows, the more comfortable we feel in the airport, the more we tend to spend.

Over the next decade (2016 to 2025), digitalization in aviation, travel and tourism is expected to create up to $305 billion of value for the industry. This means that using digital signage isn't something we can wait anymore.
