Along with an unimpeded field of light, projectors need to be at a high angle and quite a distance away from the screen where the image is displayed. These restraints limit the spaces where a projector is useful. However, LCD video walls can be set up practically anywhere as long as there is a power source. The monitors can also be arranged to create shapes or irregular displays and can be taken down and re-setup multiple times. Video walls are created to suite any environment and are flexible to changes. Projectors cannot be moved. Once they are set up it is a done deal.

The last consideration is cost. LCD monitors are the more expensive option, especially if you are wanting to purchase multiple monitors, but their lifespan and low maintenance demand actually make them the economical option. Most problems that occur in LCD screens can be easily fixed by simply updating the software. Also the screen lights rarely burn out, where in a projector this is the most common problem. Replacing a projector light is inconvenient and timely. More frequent replacements and the added cost of servicing fees quickly add up making projectors equally expensive.

All in all there is a lot to think about before purchasing a projector or a LCD video wall system. I think the most important is considering the space you will be putting your new system. From this, all other questions and solutions will stem and lead to your best option.
